Core 2: News You Can Use 02/22/12

Hello Swimmers and Parents,

First off, CONGRATULATIONS to all of the Feed The Fire Swimmers. We were extremely impressed with the swimmers, not only by their times but by their cheering and support for each other throughout the weekend. I also would like to thank all of their swimmers for their hard work and dedication this season. We had an amazing group and could not be any prouder of how they have performed.

This weekend is the Regional Swim Meet. This is the last meet of the year for swimmers to attempt to qualify for the Age Group State Championships. Warm ups will begin at 4:30 on Friday night and 7:30 a.m. on Saturday & Sunday morning. Please check the website for entries and additional information. It is important that the Regional swimmers eat healthy and get plenty of rest this week in order to be "fueled up" for the weekend. Good luck to all of the swimmers and we can’t wait to see all of the hard work pay off!

GO MAVERICKS!

Core 2: News You Can Use 02/13/12

Hello Swimmers and Parents,

Core 2 is coming off another successful weekend at the Fox Meet. We saw another large batch of time drops and built up some great momentum heading into the end of the season. A big congratulations goes out to Natalie Hey. Natalie set the Maverick team record in the 11 & 12 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:04.31.

This upcoming weekend is the Feed the Fire Meet. For many Maverick swimmers, this will be their final meet of the year. Feed the Fire is a prelims/final meet. Swimmers will compete in the morning and the top 16 or top 8 (depending on the event) will qualify for finals, which take place in the evening. All swimmers who qualify for finals are expected to swim. In years past we have seen huge time drops from prelim to final swims. Entries and warm up times can be found on the Maverick website. Also, as we head into Championship Season, only those swimmers with Regional and/or JO cuts will continue to practice after Feed the Fire.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

GO MAVERICKS!

Mike
